Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, depending on the moon sighting. That gives you about three months. The people who get the most out of Ramadan with the Quran usually don't start in Ramadan — they prepare for it. This plan shows you what to do each month between now and then.
Why prepare early?
- Habits take weeks to form. If you're not reading daily now, jumping to a juz a day in Ramadan is hard. Building up slowly makes it natural.
- Mistakes are easier to fix before Ramadan. You'll read more in Ramadan than any other month — better to read correctly.
- The Prophet ﷺ prepared in Sha‘ban. He fasted more in Sha‘ban, the month before Ramadan, than in any other month apart from Ramadan (reported by al-Bukhari). Many scholars describe Sha‘ban as a month to get ready.
The 3-month plan
Month | Focus | Daily target |
|---|---|---|
November | Build a daily habit | 10 minutes or 2 pages a day |
December | Fix your recitation | 4–5 pages a day + one tajweed rule a week |
January (Sha‘ban) | Build stamina | 10 pages a day, practising your Ramadan routine |
February (Ramadan) | Your Ramadan goal | 1 juz a day, or the goal you chose |
November: build the habit
- Choose a fixed time: after Fajr or after ‘Isha works well for most people.
- Start small: 10 minutes or 2 pages a day.
- Choose your one Mushaf for Ramadan and use it every day from now.
- See building a 10-minute daily Quran habit.
December: fix your recitation
- Ask a teacher to listen to you read for 10 minutes and tell you your 2–3 main mistakes.
- Learn one tajweed rule a week, for example madd, ghunnah and qalqalah.
- Read 4–5 pages a day.
January: build stamina (Sha‘ban)
- Increase to about 10 pages a day.
- Practise your Ramadan routine: for example, 4 pages after each prayer.
- Memorise one short surah to recite in Taraweeh or your night prayers.
- Learn the meaning of what you recite most: Al-Fatiha and the last 10 surahs.
February: Ramadan
Choose your goal using our Ramadan khatm plans: one khatm (a juz a day), half a khatm, or a plan for beginners.
For families
- Children: pick one small Ramadan goal each — a new short surah, or a Qaida lesson a day.
- Family time: a 10-minute Quran circle after Maghrib or before bed, once or twice a week, starting now.
- See the winter holiday Quran plan for kids for routines that also work in Ramadan.
