Some of the most powerful daily remembrances (adhkar) are simply verses and surahs of the Quran. The Prophet ﷺ taught specific ones for the morning, the evening and before sleep. This guide lists them with their authentic sources, so you can build a short daily routine — and recite each one correctly.
Your daily Quran adhkar at a glance
When | What to recite | Source |

Morning and evening | Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas — 3 times each | Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi |
After each obligatory prayer | Ayat al-Kursi | al-Nasa'i (graded authentic by al-Albani) |
Before sleep | Ayat al-Kursi | al-Bukhari |
Before sleep | The last two verses of Al-Baqarah | al-Bukhari, Muslim |
Before sleep | Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas, then wipe over the body | al-Bukhari |
Before sleep | Surah Al-Mulk (and As-Sajdah) | al-Tirmidhi |
Morning and evening: the three Quls
The Prophet ﷺ told ‘Abdullah ibn Khubayb: "Say Qul huwa Allahu ahad and al-Mu‘awwidhatayn (Al-Falaq and An-Nas) three times in the evening and in the morning — they will suffice you against everything" (reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi).
- When: morning adhkar are usually said after Fajr until sunrise or later in the morning; evening adhkar after ‘Asr until after Maghrib.
- Tajweed tip: keep the qalqalah on the dal at the end of each verse of Al-Ikhlas, and the ghunnah on an-nas. See the three Quls with tajweed.
After each prayer: Ayat al-Kursi
A hadith reported by al-Nasa'i, and graded authentic by al-Albani, encourages reciting Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer. Read its meaning in Ayat al-Kursi: meaning and virtues, and its rules in Ayat al-Kursi with tajweed.
Before sleep
- Ayat al-Kursi — whoever recites it in bed has a guardian from Allah, and no devil comes near him until morning (reported by al-Bukhari).
- The last two verses of Al-Baqarah — "Whoever recites them at night, they will suffice him" (reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim). See the last two verses of Al-Baqarah.
- The three Quls — every night the Prophet ﷺ would cup his hands, blow lightly into them, recite Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas, then wipe over as much of his body as he could, starting with his head and face, three times (reported by al-Bukhari).
- Surah Al-Mulk and Surah As-Sajdah — the Prophet ﷺ would not sleep until he had recited them (reported by al-Tirmidhi). See Surah Al-Mulk: meaning and virtues.
A simple 10-minute routine
Time | Adhkar | About how long |
|---|---|---|
After Fajr | Three Quls × 3 | 2 minutes |
After each prayer | Ayat al-Kursi | 1 minute |
After ‘Asr or Maghrib | Three Quls × 3 | 2 minutes |
Before sleep | Ayat al-Kursi, last 2 verses of Al-Baqarah, three Quls with wiping | 4 minutes |
Before sleep (when you can) | Surah Al-Mulk | 8–10 minutes |
Recite them correctly
Because you'll say these every day, it's worth having a teacher check them once. Small mistakes repeated daily become habits that are hard to fix later. To have your adhkar recitation checked, see our Quran classes for adults, or keep the free printable tajweed chart nearby.
